Benjamin Moore has announced its 2016 Color of the Year – Simply White OC-117. Contrary to the 2015 color of the year, Guilford Green, and Pantone’s rich and earthy Marsala, Simply White is clean, fresh and simply brilliant.
While some might be surprised, it makes sense why they (boldly) chose this color. Aside from recent trends in architecture, fashion, art and home décor; 5 out of the 10 top selling colors at Benjamin Moore are variations of white.
“The color white is transcendent, powerful and polarizing – it is either taken for granted or obsessed over,” said Benjamin Moore creative director Ellen O’Neill, in a press release. “White is not just a design trend, it is a design essential,” she continued. “The popularity of white, the necessity of white, the mystique of white is quantifiable in our industry.”
Picked from over 250 selections of white, Simply White was chosen because it was allegedly the most neutral in the various light sources used in today’s design environments.
